About Veteran Companion Animal Services (VCAS):
"At Veteran Companion Animal Services (VCAS), our mission is simple but powerful: rescuing dogs to rescue veterans. We enrich the lives of veterans, their families, and rescue dogs through a series of programs designed to build lasting bonds and restore hope.
All of our services are completely free to veterans, ensuring accessibility for every veteran who comes through our doors.
We believe that the bond between animals and humans can be incredibly therapeutic, and we work to place rescue animals with veterans who can benefit from their companionship and the human-animal bond.
Through our placement program, veterans are matched with rescue dogs that fit their lifestyle and needs. VCAS covers the cost of food, supplies, and veterinary care for the first year—removing barriers so veterans can focus on healing and connection. Our training program empowers veterans to build confidence and skills alongside their dog. Our alumni community fosters ongoing support, and our ambassador program helps veterans pursue therapy dog certification so they can share their companions with others, bringing the mission full circle.
This year alone, VCAS has already celebrated over two dozen placements, with more on the way. Each one represents a second chance for a dog in need and a new beginning for a veteran seeking purpose, healing, and unconditional love.
